Obituary of Asa Mushrush

"Died Jul. 13, 1931. 89, Veteran of the Civil War, died at his home in Chauncey, Monday. He was born in Ohio and came to Illinois in 1852 with his parents (Andrew and Christena Painter Mushrush). He and Mrs. (Martha Jane Carlisle) Mushrush, who survives him, have lived on the same farm for sixty two years. (Burial at Waggoner Cemetery, Crawford Co)."

Obituary of Dorothea M. Mushrush

"Died Jan. 10, 1991. Age 79, Rt 3 Sumner died about 9 pm Thursday at Lawrence County. Born April 23, 1911 in Petty Twp, she was the d/o Orville and Mayme Groves Wright. She was married to Valmore Mushrush and he survives. Other survivors included two sons and a daughter, eight grandchildren and six g-grandchildren. Three brothers and a sister preceded her in death. Funeral Services at 2 p.m. Sunday at Cunningham Funeral Home, Bridgeport. Interment is in Waggoner Cemetery."

"Died Mar. 12, 1987. Age 102, died about 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Bridgeport Healthcare Center. She formerly resided on Illinois Rt. 1 north of Lawrenceville for many years. Born in Landes, April 24, 1884, d/o George and Alice Correll Keplinger. She married Bert Mushrush who proceeded in death. Survivors include: son, Harold, a daughter Marie, a grandchild and three great-grandchildren. Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Emmons-Macey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville with the Rev. Philip Richardson officiating and internment in Lawrenceville Cemetery."

"Died Aug. 27, 1982. Glenn Mushrush, 92 years old Sumner resident, died about 5 p.m. Wednesday in Red Hills Nursing Center in Sumner. Born in Lawrence County, Feb 23, 1888, s/o James and Sarah Hutchinson Mushrush. His wife, Verna McConnell Mushrush survives him. Also are surviving is one son, Robert Mushrush of Lincoln; one sister Mrs. Chloe Fearheiley of Bridgeport; two grandsons and four g-grandchildren. Mr. Mushrush was a retired farmer and formerly resided in the Chauncey area. He was a member of the Lawrence County Farm Bureau. Funeral rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday from Sivert Funeral Home in Sumner w/ the Rev. R. David Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow in Sumner Cemetery."

"Died Aug. 14, 2001. Sumner, Howard Mushrush, 88, Route 3, Sumner, died at his residence. Born Aug. 21, 1912 in Crawford County, he was the son of Clarence and Myrtle Daniels Mushrush. He was a farmer and member of the Chauncey United Methodist Church. He was married to Nola Mae Adamson Mushrush, she preceded him in death. Two sisters, a grandchild and a g-grandchild are also deceased. Survivors include three sons and a daughter. Funeral to be held Friday Aug. 17, at Sivert Macey & Steffey Funeral Home, Sumner. With burial in Crestheaven Memorial Park Cemetery, Claremont (Richland County)."

She was a member of the Chauncey United Methodist church. Oct. 6. 1934 she married Howard Mushrush and he survives. Survivors include three sons and a daughter. McConnell and Margaret Milligan. Her husband, Glenn Mushrush, died in 1980. Surviving is one son, Robert of Lincoln; two grandsons, four great grandchildren. Mrs. Mushrush was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sumner. Interment will be in Sumner Cemetery."

"Died Aug. 1, 1993 Age 42, of Nashville, TN, formerly of Lawrenceville. Born March 27, 1951 in Lawrenceville, he was the s/o Orville and Edith Bennett Mushrush. He was a 1969 graduate of Lawrenceville High School and a graduate of Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. An Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War, he was employed as a systems engineer for Electronics Data Systems, Nashville TN. Survivors include his mother, a sister Marjorie and brother Mike, and four nephews. Interment at May Chapel Cemetery, east of Lawrenceville."

"Died Nov. 2, 1948 Age 70, wife of Riley Stevenson, died at her home four miles north of Lawrenceville, Tuesday morning. Mrs. Stevenson was born on the same farm on which she died and spent all of her life as a resident of that community. She was born Dec. 13, 1878, d/o Jacob and Susan Zehner Cochran. Survived by her husband and eight children. The children are: Mrs. Alfred Earnest of Quincy, Ralph of Effingham, and Veris, Clyde, Lyman, Lindsay, Bertis and Edwin Stevenson all of this county. Five children preceded her in death. There are also 19 grandchildren who survive. Funeral is 2 p.m. in the Dollahan Methodist Church at Pinkstaff with the Rev. Roy Hudson in charge. Burial will be in Derr Cemetery."

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon from Emmons Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Internment will be in Lawrenceville Cemetery."

"Died Dec. 8, 1986. Former Lawrence County resident, died Monday afternoon at Tri-County Hosp in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. He was 91, resident of Chickamauga, Ga. July 24, 1920 he was married to Bonnie Shank, who survives him. One infant son, Harold Lloyd Stevenson, two brothers and one sister preceded in him death. Veteran of WWI in which he served with the 346 Infantry American Expeditionary in France and was a member of the WWI Barracks 389. Funeral rites will be conducted at 2 pm Saturday from Emmons Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Otterbein Cemetery, northeast of Birds with full military rites being accorded at the graveside by the Flat Rock American Legion."

There are two sisters, Mrs. May Lemeron of Birds and Mrs. Faye Outler of Lawrenceville Rt 3, his stepfather and mother Felix and Cathern Stevenson; and stepbrothers and stepsisters who are Marjoria Wilson, Dora Stevenson, Estes Stevenson and Emmons Stevenson; and one grandson. Funeral service was held at the Emmons Funeral Home, Tuesday morning, with Rev. Robert Boltman officiating. Burial was in St. Paul Cemetery."
