Bluford Clinton Cummins (his grave marker in Derr Cemetery near Pinkstaff spells it "Blueford"), who was commonly called Clint. He was the brother of my great-grandfather, William Perry Cummins. Both were born in Kentucky, sons of Squire Cummins and Mary A. Herrin. Clint Cummins was married first to Rebecca Jane Knepper, and that couple had eleven children. After her death, he married Ella Mae Weathers, who had at least four children by her previous marriage to John Franklin Gerken. Clint and Ella had seven more children. When Clint died on January 25, 1945, at the age of 83 years, eight months and four days, his obituary said he left, in addition to his surviving children, 53 grandchildren and 63 great-grandchildren. Sixteen grandsons were serving in the Armed Forces! |
