John Henry STARR, son of Benjamin STARR and Charlotte PINKSTON, was born 9 Apr 1812 in Wilkes County, Georgia. He married Mary L. ELDER (born 15 Apr 1814) in Jul 1831.

John Henry and Mary had 15 known children, who are listed below:

2. David Elder, b. 5 Apr 1835, d. 19 Nov 1910. (Married Amelia Anna HEIDT.)

4. Benjamin Hartwell, b.7 Oct 1837, d. 6 May 1864. (Married Ann Elia KIRK.)
   
5. Martha Elizabeth, b. 28 Aug 1838, d. 12 Feb 1914. (Married James Richard MANLEY.)
   
6. Mary E., b. 15 Dec 1839/1840, d. 10 Jul 1883. (Married Robert MATTHEWS.)

John's first wife Mary died of cancer on 14 Mar 1864, and he married secondly Ellen Athay OGLETREE (born 7 Aug 1840) on 16 Sep 1864. They had the following 4 children:

1. James William, b. 22 Aug 1867, d. 23 Apr 1941. (Married Eleanor Beatrice COLEMAN.)
   
2. Joseph Tenth, b. 25 Dec 1869, d. 20 Dec 1940. (Married Georgia Marie BARNES.)
   
3. Elijah Eleventh, b. 1 Jan 1872, d. 12 Sep 1931. (Married Lou HENDERSON.)
   
4. Rachel Rebecca, b. 20 Aug 1874, d. 9 Sep 1900. (Married Henry Parks GRIFFIN.)
   

John Henry's last will and testament was written on 13 May 1875. He died on 18 Oct 1875, leaving Ellen a widow with 4 small children. She struggled to raise them alone, and died from pneumonia on 23 Jan 1888. John Henry and his two wives are buried at County Line Cemetery in Spalding County, Georgia.
